Matt's LNF runs 11's on stock turbo!
|
A few months ago, I set out to run 11s in my '08 SS/T and decided to attempt this with the stock turbo. This looked somewhat difficult on paper, but certainly seemed possible. As we plugged away on the dyno, we came across a few battles getting enough power to get the job done. Low end torque potential is amazing on the LNF, but this just gave us clutch issues. We raced a couple times with the midrange power turned way down to keep the clutch happy. After running 12.17 about a month ago, we started turning the low end power back up and made dozens of dyno pulls with extensive tuning. We also installed a stage 4 ZZP clutch to handle the increased torque. As of now, we are at 336whp with a nice wide powerband. Torque is 395 at the tires.
Tonight started out a bit slow with a couple passes in the 12.3s. I ran a 12.38 missing 3rd gear pretty bad. For the next pass, I launched harder and shifted pretty conservatively to avoid the possibility of missing another shift. With a great launch, I knew the pass was going to beat our 12.17, but I was a bit surprised when I received the 11 sec timeslip.
To this I say, "Mission accomplished!"
